Anand Poojary, owner of the Woodlands restaurant, has lived in the Washington DC area. Anand, and his wife Sumita, have been running Woodlands for the last 25 years.

Anand Poojary came to the U.S. to hone his craft in one of the best Indian restaurants in New York City. When the time was right, he brought his skills and tastes for his native South Indian cuisine to life by opening Woodlands. Consistently recommended in the Washingtonian magazine and Washington Post, Woodlands is a destination for traditional South Indian Cuisine.

Woodlands has been proudly serving the Washington DC Metro area with authentic, vegetarian South Indian dishes. It’s delicious food and brightly decorated setting has accumulated a diverse range of new and regular customers, that we are proud to call our family. 

Woodlands also caters food to Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries and Banquets. Woodlands has catered hundreds of events for years in the DC metropolitan area. From small to large, our catering will bring the class, quality and style of Woodlands to your event. 

Anand often hosts eminent officials from India, including Prime Minister and union government ministers during their official visit to Washington. The Poojary couple met Modi for the fourth time on Friday September 24, 2021 and took care of his meals. Modi was served vegetarian food including Idli, Sambar and sweet dishes.
